STATEMENT OF PRESIDENT CLINTON AND PRESIDENT YELTSIN

President Bill Clinton and President Boris Yeltsin extend their sincere condolences, on behalf of the American and Russian people, to the families of the victims of the ferry disaster in the Baltic Sea. Russia and the United States deeply regret the tragic loss of life in this incident and stand ready to assist in any way the Estonian, Finnish and Swedish governments in the aftermath of this tragedy.
