PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES NOMINEE TO OHIO DISTRICT BENCH

The President today nominated Kathleen M. O'Malley to serve on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

"I am proud to nominate Kate O'Malley to the federal bench," the President said. "She has an outstanding record of excellence and achievement in the legal profession and in public service."

O'Malley, 37, now serves as First Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Staff of the Ohio Attorney General's Office from 1991 to 1993, she served as Chief Counsel in that office. From 1985 to 1991, O'Malley was an associate and then a partner in the Cleveland firm of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur. Previously, she worked as an associate in the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. O'Malley also served as a law clerk to Judge Nathaniel Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She received an A.B. degree from Kenyon College and a J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. O'Malley and her husband, Anthony J. O'Malley, have two children and live in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
