Statement by the Press Secretary

The White House Counsel's office today distributed the attached memo directing all staff to comply with a federal grand jury subpoena requesting the production of all records "relating to Harry Thomason or Darnell Martens, excluding those records relating solely to the inauguration." The subpoena, which was received on September 15, 1994, was issued as part of an investigation being conducted by the Department of Justice's Public Integrity Section and calls for the production of responsive documents on September 30, 1994. The White House intends to comply fully.
