PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES BRANSON TO SECURITIES BOARD
President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Debbie Branson as vice-chair and public member of the board of directors of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation.
Ms. Branson is an attorney in private practice in Dallas, Texas. She received a B.S. from Arkansas State University in 1977 and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas in 1980. In 1993, she received her M.S. from the University of Texas in Dallas.
The board of directors governs the operations of the corporation, which administers a fund for limited customer protection against financial failures of broker-dealers who are members of the corporation. The SIPC Fund, which exceeds $720 million, is derived from assessments imposed on its members.
