       PRESIDENT NAMES REGINALD B. MADSEN TO BE THE UNITED STATES 
                   MARSHAL FOR THE DISTRICT OF OREGON

President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate Reginald B. Madsen to be the United States Marshal for the District of Oregon.

Mr. Madsen has over twenty-five years of experience in law enforcement. He worked with the Oregon State Police Department in Salem, Oregon since 1968, and held the rank of Superintendent at the time of his retirement in 1993. Prior to that, Mr. Madsen worked with the Vancouver Police department in the State of Washington for two years, from 1966 until 1968. Mr. Madsen also served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1964.

Mr. Madsen received his Associates Degree in Applied Science from Clark College in Vancouver, Washington in 1967. He was born in Neopit, Wisconsin on September 15, 1940 and is married with two children. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
