Vice President Al Gore was released at 11:30 AM (EDT) today (8/22) from Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD.

The Vice President underwent successful surgery on Saturday (8/20) to repair a ruptured achilles tendon, an injury he received while playing basketball with friends. While his achilles tendon heals, the Vice President will wear a splint for one week and then a cast for six months on his lower left leg, and use crutches. The Vice President is in good spirits and is recovering on schedule, according to his doctors at the Bethesda Naval Hospital.

The Vice President's schedule remains unchanged.
