VICE PRESIDENT GORE TO VISIT POLAND UKRAINE

Vice President Al Gore announced today that he will visit Warsaw, Poland and Kiev, Ukraine on August 1 and 2, 1994.

The Vice President will lead a Presidential Delegation to Warsaw to attend ceremonies on August 1, 1994 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. While in Poland, the Vice President will meet with Polish President Lech Walesa and Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Vice President Gore will pay an official visit to Kiev on August 2 to meet with Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, at President Kuchma's invitation. President Kuchma was inaugurated as the second President of and independent Ukraine on July 19, 1994. The Vice President will also meet with Chairman Moroz and leading members of the Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, during his visit.
