PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES HIS INTENTION TO NOMINATE WILLIAM HENRY VON EDWARDS, III, AS U. S. MARSHAL FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ALABAMA
President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate William Henry Von Edwards, III, as U. S. Marshal for the Northern District of Alabama.
Mr. Edwards has been a Senior Criminal Investigator (Deputy U. S. Marshal) with the U. S. Marshal's service for the Northern District of Alabama since 1970. In this capacity, Mr. Edwards has acted as an officer of the court in transporting and protecting defendants and witnesses in criminal cases. He has also provided security during legal proceedings and tracked and apprehended fugitives. He has supervised up to 15 deputy marshals and was a firearms instructor for the Birmingham area.
His prior experience includes having been a Military Policeman with the U. S. Army in Korea from 1968 to 1970. Mr. Edwards received a B. S. Degree from Tuskegee University in 1968. He is currently attending the Birmingham School of Law and anticipates graduating in 1995.
