FAMILY CONFERENCE TO FOCUS ON ROLE OF MEN
IN CHILDREN'S LIVES
Vice President To Moderate
Policy Makers, Family Members To Take Part
MONDAY, JULY 11, 1994 NASHVILLE, TN
WASHINGTON -- Vice President Al Gore, Tipper Gore,
policy makers from all levels of government, family members, and experts in the field of families will join together Monday, July 11 in Nashville, TN, at the Third Annual Family Reunion Conference to address the role of men in children's lives and ways to reconnect young people with their fathers and other male role models.
Family Reunion III: The Role of Men in Children's Lives will be held at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center Polk Theater in Nashville. It is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Human Services and the Children, Youth and Families Consortium of the University of Minnesota. It is the third in a series of family policy conferences moderated by the Vice President.
"Over the years, as more and different pressures are placed on families, some ineffective patterns of fatherhood have developed. Unfortunately, many young people across this country are growing up without the support of their fathers, and without any real male role models," the Vice President said. "This conference will address those issues and help us discover ways to reconnect fathers and other men with young people, and in the process, strengthen and support families."
The Reverend Jesse Jackson and President Clinton's Domestic Policy Council Director Carol Rasco, will join the Vice President at the all-day conference. The conference will include men and women's forums; entertainment; policy roundtable discussions; and a town hall meeting moderated by Vice President Gore.
For more information about credentialing and logistics, the media should contact Princine Lewis or Jennifer Miller at 615-742-8113.
The agenda of the conference follows.
