         PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES CECIL J. BANKS AS A MEMBER OF 
           THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE AFRICAN FOUNDATION             

The President announced today his intention to nominate Cecil J. Banks as a Member of the Board of Directors for the African Development Foundation.

The African Development Foundation is an independent, non-profit government corporation founded to provide self-help initiatives to the poor populations of Africa. The Foundation also works to strengthen friendships and understanding between the people of Africa and the United States and to support local African activities designed to increase opportunities for community development.

Cecil Banks, a New Jersey resident, is a partner in the law firm of Sills, Cummis, Zuckerman, Radin, Tischman, Epstein & Gross. He was a Delegate to the First African/African-American Summit in Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and the Second African/African-American Summit in Gabon.
