                 PRESIDENT NAMES STANISLAUS A. BLEJWAS  
          AS A MEMBER OF THE U. S. HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL COUNCIL

The President today announced his intention to appoint Stanislaus A. Blejwas a Member of the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

Stanislaus A. Blejwas, of Connecticut, is a Professor of History and Coordinator of Polish Studies at Central Connecticut State University. Dr. Blejwas serves on the Board of Directors of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America, the Polish American Historical Association, and the National Polish American-Jewish American Council.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Council was established in 1979 to provide for the annual commemoration of the Days of Remembrance, and construct and operate a permanent living memorial museum to the victims of the Holocaust. The Holocaust Memorial Museum was dedicated on April 22, 1993.
