WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES ARMED FORCES DAY TOURS

WASHINGTON, DC -- In recognition of Armed Forces Day, the White House will have special hours for White House tours on Saturday, May 21, 1994.

To honor all active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces, the White House will be open from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 1994. These tours are set aside for U.S. active-duty military personnel in uniform. This is the first time that tour hours have been extended to accommodate personnel who plan to participate in the open house at Andrews Air Force Base, later on Saturday morning.

Each uniformed service member may bring one guest or spouse and immediate family members. Entry is available, on a first-come, first-served basis, without tickets, at the southeast gate on E Street and East Executive Avenue, NW. National Park Service rangers will direct guests. The line may be stopped before 10 AM, depending upon its length.

The CJCS (Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff) Protocol Office advises that the uniforms of the day for each service are: Army, class B; Marine Corps, summer service C; Navy, summer white: Air Force, short-sleeve shirt without tie; and Coast Guard, tropical blue long.

The regular public tours will be held as scheduled, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
