STATEMENT BY THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

This afternoon President Clinton telephoned Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Syrian President Hafez al-Asad to discuss the peace process following the visit by Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin to the United States. The President discussed with each leader ways to resume negotiations as quickly as possible.
