PRESIDENT CLINTON DECLARES MAJOR DISASTER IN DELAWARE

President Clinton today declared a major disaster in the state of Delaware and ordered federal funds be released to help communities in that state recover from severe ice storms and flooding which occurred from February 8 to February 18, 1994.

The President's action makes federal funding available to affected local governments in Kent and Sussex counties.

Federal funding is available to eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for regular repair or replacement of public facilities damaged by the severe weather, including rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is continuing to conduct damage surveys in other areas of Delaware. Additional counties may be added after the assessments are complete.
