                  HART APPOINTED DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR 
                    OF TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION

President Clinton today appointed Christopher A. Hart to be the Deputy Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Hart comes to this position after three years serving as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board. From 1981-90, he was the managing partner of the law firm of Hart & Chavers. He had previously practiced with the firm of Dickstein, Shapiro & Morin. Hart was Deputy Assistant General Counsel of the Department of Transportation from 1977-79. He has also been an attorney for the Air Transport Association, among others.

A trained commercial pilot, Hart holds a B.S.E. and M.S.E. in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton University, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
