THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release January 25, 1994

PRESIDENT APPOINTS TRUESDALE TO NLRB

The President last night recess appointed John C. Truesdale to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. This interim appointment will allow the Board to achieve a quorum to conduct necessary business pending Senate action on the President's nominees to the Board. Truesdale is currently the Executive Secretary of the National Labor Relations Board, and served as a Member of the Board from 1977 through 1981.

President Clinton has previously nominated William B. Gould IV and Margaret A. Browning to be Members of the NLRB, and expressed his intention to designate Gould as its Chair. Their nominations are pending confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
