STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will pay an official working visit to the U.S. February 14-15. President Clinton is looking forward to welcoming President Nazarbayev to the White House on February 14. President Clinton will be congratulating President Nazarbayev on the Kazakhstan Parliament's recent decision to accede to the Non-Proliferation Treaty which will make Kazakhstan a non-nuclear state. The two leaders also will discuss their intention to expand private trade and investment and steps to promote political and economic reform in Kazakhstan. This will be the first meeting between the two Presidents.
