                     PRESIDENT TO NOMINATE REINSCH 
                     FOR EXPORT ADMINISTRATION POST 

President Clinton announced today that he intends to nominate William A. Reinsch to be the Under Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration.

Reinsch has served since 1991 as a legislative assistant to Senator John D. Rockefeller, IV, responsible for staffing the Senator's work on international trade and competitiveness issues on the Finance and Commerce Committees. Before joining Senator Rockefeller's staff, he spent fourteen years as chief legislative assistant for Senator John Heinz. He also served on the legislative staffs of Congressmen Richard Ottinger of New York and Gilbert Gude of Maryland, and of the U.S. House of Representatives Environmental Study Conference.

In addition to his legislative work, Reinsch has also served since 1990 as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland's University College Graduate School of Management and Technology. He is also president of the Saint Mark Elderly Housing Corp., a non-profit corporation that runs a home for the frail elderly in Rockville, Maryland. Before coming to Capitol Hill, he was a school teacher in Bethesda, Maryland.

Reinsch holds a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University, and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies. He resides in Bethesda, Maryland, is married, and has two children.
