THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release December 27, 1993

Statement by the Press Secretary

President Clinton will make a state visit to Moscow from January 12-15, 1994, at the invitation of Russian Federation President Boris Yeltsin. In their meetings, the two Presidents will seek to broaden the bilateral partnership they initiated at their meeting in Vancouver in April 1993.

The talks in Moscow will continue the comprehensive dialogue on the entire range of issues in U.S.-Russian relations. The Presidents will review progress in their efforts to rid their bilateral relations of the legacy of the Cold War, and will discuss cooperation in light of the reforms taking place in Russia.

In addition, the agenda will encompass security issues, including cooperation in arms control and the global nonproliferation regime, and key international issues, including multilateral peacekeeping and regional conflicts.
