STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
President Clinton spoke today with Chief Warrant Officer Michael Durant by telephone to Mogadishu, Somalia from the Oval Office. The President and Major Durant spoke for seven minutes.
President Clinton told Durant that our nation was proud and grateful for his service and bravery and that he was delighted with his release.
Major Durant told the President he received good care during his detention and was looking forward to his return.
