The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
STATEMENT BY COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS
MAY 7, 1993
The very idea that President Clinton, or any American President, would make a decision involving the lives of Americans in uniform for political reasons is outrageous.
Patriotic and thoughtful Americans can honestly disagree about how the world should respond to the tragedy in Bosnia. But the debate should not be trivialized by ill-considered and intemperate accusations such as those made by Mr. Perot.
